Jim Brummond was born into a household cradled in creativity. His father was a professional artist and designer, sparking an early love for art. Jim studied art at The Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, as did his brother, Steve. From there he has worked in graphic design full time for over 25 years, also working as a freelancer offering illustration, graphic design and photography. Jim has been recognized locally, regionally, and internationally through awards such as The Addys and the International Design Conference in Aspen.
Jim enjoys drawing and painting with many mediums, his favorite being acrylic on textures he makes with gesso. This technique allows the texture to come through in the painting, giving the viewer an endless landscape of detail to discover. Jim likes to keep his style and subject matters open and varied, ensuring that his creativity will continuously be busy with discovery. Jim also enjoys handcrafting his own frames.
Jim has four reasons why he does all of this, they are Christine, Ben, Zack and Nolan, his family. He is nurturing a new generation of creativity in his children. Jim and his son, Zack, created the art, photography and design for a book called “Return to the Farm, a Christmas Journey” with author Tom Roberts. It was with great pride as he watched his seven year old son be published and sign books with his dad at art events and stores like Barnes & Noble. Jim also illustrated another book called “The Little Lost Sock” and is now working on a new third book due to be published in 2016. Jim has always been happy to be able to use his talents to help people in need by designing and making art for entities like The Children’s Home Society, McCrossan Boy’s Ranch, Children’s Inn and others.
